STUDENT HOUSING MARKET

The total stock of purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) in Prague exceeds 28,400 beds. 91% of this capacity is in the ownership of universities and the remaining 9% is provided by the private sector.

Prague universities continue to invest into refurbishment and partial remodelling of their dormitories. The aim is to increase the number of single rooms, which will slightly reduce the overall bed capacity and improve the quality of the common and shared areas.

However, even after these upgrade works are completed, the standard of living in most university-owned dormitories will not compare to rooms in private sector.
